Benjamin Brown joined GDPC after years at Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, a nonprofit legal organization, where he focused on the needs of persons with disabilities. Benjamin is a master researcher and writer and works tirelessly for GDPC's clients.


Benjamin’s other experience includes establishing Special Needs Trusts to allow persons with disabilities to receive income from employment or family support without jeopardizing their eligibility for Medicaid and other public benefits. Benjamin has also represented children of all ages in their claims for Supplemental Security Income (SSI), a federal disability benefit available to children and adults.


Benjamin attended college at New College of Florida, concentrating in political science, and earned his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. While in law school, Benjamin served as a research assistant, helping to develop articles on corporate and securities law topics.


In his practice, Benjamin endeavors to comply with both the letter and spirit of New York Rules of Professional Conduct Rule 1.14(a), requiring a lawyer representing a child or other person lacking legal capacity to maintain communication with the client, and to remain informed of the individual’s unique wishes, goals, and interests.


Benjamin is admitted to practice before New York State court and the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Benjamin is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the New York State Trial Lawyers Association.
