IEP (CSE) Meetings

IEP (CSE) Meetings

A Committee on Special Education (CSE) or IEP team is comprised of school professionals, teachers, the child’s parents, and private providers (parents are equal members of the team). At a CSE meeting, the team is supposed to come together for a meaningful discussion regarding what is needed for the child moving forward. Parents have the right to invite anyone who has knowledge of their child to participate at the CSE meeting. Parents may also bring an attorney to represent them at these meetings.

Parents have the right to record these meetings if they give the district advance notice. GDPC always encourages parents to record. It can be an invaluable piece of evidence later on.
