A Committee on Special Education (CSE) or IEP team is a team comprised of school professionals, teachers, the child’s parents, and private providers who come together to devise an appropriate IEP for the child. A parent is an equal member of a CSE. Parents have the right to take audio recordings at these meetings if they give the district notice. Parents also have the right to invite anyone who has knowledge of their child to participate at the CSE meeting. Parents may also bring an attorney to represent them at these meetings.
